Director, Biomechanics Laboratory
Director, MADE in NTSP
Director, Neurotechnological Solutions Platform

Can Yücesoy received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University in 1993 and 1997 respectively. During his graduate studies at this university, he worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Mathematics and later as a research assistant in the Experimental Mechanics and Biomechanics Laboratory at the Department of Engineering Sciences. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Mechanical Engineering Department of University of Twente in the Netherlands in 2003. In Twente, at the Biomechanical Engineering Research Group, he developed a finite element model of skeletal muscle using a two-domain approach that represents the activatable muscle fibers and the extracellular matrix as two separate domains that are linked mechanically. He also conducted physiological experiments in the Myology Laboratory of Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. His research was focused on force transmission from skeletal muscle via myofascial pathways not only within muscle (intramuscular myofascial force transmission) but also between muscles and from muscle to non-muscular structures (epimuscular myofascial force transmission). After his Ph.D. studies, he worked at Vrije Universiteit as a Post Doctoral fellow. Since June 2004, Dr. Yücesoy is with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Boğaziçi University. Dr. Yücesoy is also the academic lead for Boğaziçi University and a Board of Governors member in The European University of Brain and Technology - NeurotechEU. He is the director of the Biomechanics Lab.
